Linde Material Handling UK strengthens sustainability leadership with new appointment

21 Jan 2026

Intralogistics leader, Linde Material Handling UK, has appointed long-standing employee Gill Brennand as its new Sustainability Manager to support its ongoing commitment to reducing its environmental impact.

Gill, who will take up the role in January 2026, has been with the business for more than 26 years, starting in export order processing and later moving up to manage the Central Order Desk.

In her new role, Gill will lead the development and implementation of strategies to reduce carbon emissions, improve waste management, promote sustainable sourcing and ensure sustainability is embedded into daily operations across the organisation.

“I’ve been part of Linde Material Handling – and the logistics sector – for almost three decades, giving me a front-row seat as sustainability has risen to the top of the industry agenda,” said Gill.

“I’m proud to be part of a company that takes its responsibilities seriously, and I look forward to building on the hard work already done while leading the next phase of our sustainability journey.”

Her appointment comes after Linde MH achieved a Platinum EcoVadis ranking earlier this year, placing it among the top one percent of companies assessed by the global sustainability rating agency.

It also follows the launch of a major UK-wide sustainability programme by Linde MH, which is designed to further reduce the company’s carbon footprint and support customers in achieving their own net-zero goals.

The action plan has already seen solar panels installed at Linde’s Bridgend site in Wales and at the Newton Aycliffe premises in the North-East of England, with renewable energy solutions to be rolled out across all UK-owned sites. Additional initiatives include:

  • Transitioning the Service Engineer van and company car fleets to full EV alternatives, moving away from IC and hybrid models
  • Expanding EV charging points for staff, visitors, and company vehicles
  • Decreasing energy consumption through LED lighting upgrades across warehouses, workshops, and offices
  • Sourcing energy from low-carbon providers (e.g., wind and solar)
  • • Implementing rainwater harvesting systems across sites
  • Installing automatic roller shutters on workshops to reduce heat loss

Dr. Arthur O’Sullivan, a Regional Director for Linde MH, commented: “We are very aware of the environmental impact of the intralogistics sector, and as a leader in this space, we recognise our responsibility to drive meaningful change.

“Sustainability is a central priority for Linde, and while we have already made significant progress, there is still much more to do and we are thrilled to have Gill spearheading these efforts moving forward.”
