On September 23, 2011, the reigning German champions took the title of "Best European Forklifting Nation" at the "International Championship" in Aschaffenburg (Germany). With skill, speed and precision, the national team led by Ahmet Tekindag, Matthias Wittiger und Steven Klinger relegated Sweden and the Czeck Republic to second and third place, respectively. Twelve countries sent their three best forklift operators to compete as a team in the international competition: Spain, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, the Baltic States, the UK and China squared off this year against Germany, (the defending champions). Nearly 15,000 spectators watched the competition on Aschaffenburg’s Schlossplatz.

Since 2007, many countries around the world have held their own national forklift championships, sending their top three winners to Aschaffenburg to compete in the "International Championship," which run concurrently with the finale of the German national championship. Aschaffenburg is considered to be the center of the stacking sport. The German national forklift championship took place for the seventh time September 22 to 24, 2011. The only requirement for participation is that competitors have a valid forklift operator's license – otherwise experience, instinct, and speed are the skills that really count.

The contest for the title of German Forklift Driving Champion is designed not least to raise sensibilities regarding the occupational and safety/technical aspects associated with the discipline. At the same time, the goal of the StaplerCup is to call the more than 350,000 people who work as forklift drivers out from their shadowy existence and recognize them as pillars of the logistics sector. The contest gives them the opportunity to present their abilities to the public at large. The StaplerCup was honored in 2010 with the Best-of-Business-to-Business Award in Gold.
