Almost As Fast As Formula 1

Linde supports the Renault Formula 1 team every season by providing them with rental trucks

8:30 on March 16, 2017 Renault Formula 1 team headquarters in Enstone, Oxfordshire: Thirty-two tons of freight need to be loaded as quickly as possible in order to make the start of the Formula 1 season in Australia.

Geoff Simmonds, Race Team Coordinator at Renault Sport, emphasizes that: “The team only has one day to pack for the first race. So there's no room for breakdowns or other problems.”

For four years now, the Renault Formula 1 team has been using Linde forklift trucks to load all of its equipment, and to assist with construction at the racetrack, right across Europe. For Zuzana Golisova, STR Manager at Linde Material Handling UK, it is important that everything runs smoothly and that the customer is satisfied: “Before the season starts, I provide an overview of what the relevant requirements are. We talk everything through. Then, at the end of the season, I check whether everything we agreed upon has gone as planned and discuss how we possibly could improve things.”

“So far, the partnership with the rental truck team - Short Term Rental (STR) - at Linde UK has proved to be both reliable and flexible for Renault. Golisova is particularly pleased that Linde could also help out at the road tests in Barcelona on a short notice: “We called our colleagues in Barcelona and Linde promptly delivered a suitable truck to the racetrack,” says Zusana Golisova describing the efficient collaboration within the Linde network. The Renault team values this support greatly. Geoff Simmonds enthuses: “Thanks to our collaboration with Linde, we can concentrate on what is really important to us, and don’t have to worry about things outside of our core business.”

BrewDog taste success with Linde

Beer is heavy and people are increasingly thirsty for great craft beer.
BrewDog’s state-of-the-art packaging lines produce hundreds of pallets of craft beer, every day of the week. So forklift trucks in this industry need to work fast and be built to last.

BrewDog have been the fastest growing food and drink company in the UK for the last three years, so can't afford any downtime. Product quality is paramount to the company. Beer needs to be delivered to bars, retailers and distributors in perfect condition, and as quickly as possible. Brewdog demand reliability, build quality, ease of operation and comfort for their operators.

Martin Dempster, Operations Director at BrewDog PLC commented “When we were reviewing our material handling provision, we spoke to our friends locally in other manufacturing and distribution businesses. Only one name came up ... Linde. Their reputation in the industry is second to none. Reliability and efficiency of operation seem to be the key facets of this success. “We have taken a range of trucks from Linde on contract hire to cover our needs, including T 20 SP pallet transporter, E 16 C counterbalance truck and the workhorse H 20 T LPG truck for the high-volume external work that forms the core of our warehouse operations. Linde also helped us spec a R16 reach truck which helped us make maximum use of our new warehouse space with a racking system. The staff love the trucks as they are great to operate.

As we have grown, we have faced a great deal of logistical challenges and used several external warehouses. The team at Linde really helped us out by supplying short-term trucks at the last minute, when we really needed them."

Davicon reach out to Linde Forklift Truck Hire for high lift solution

Finding a fork lift truck for hire can be a fairly simple task, but when the requirement is for lifting to 11 metres, it can prove a more complicated challenge.

Davicon is a mezzanine design and manufacturer located in Brierley Hill, specialising in mezzanine floors and mezzanine levels. The company has designed, manufactured and installed mezzanine floors for numerous large, well known and respected companies including British Gas, Morrisons, John Lewis, BMW and New Look.

Many of these projects require the need for lifting support which is provided by Linde Forklift Truck Hire. With one of the largest lift truck rental fleets in the UK, Linde Forklift Truck Hire are not only able to help with standard trucks, but their comprehensive fleet also consists of trucks with more complex specifications.

Ian Priest, Project Manager at Davicon commented, ‘The trucks from Linde enable us to unload lorries and lift steel structures which sometimes can mean lifts up to 11 metres. The availability of this type of machine on hire for either long or short periods is imperative to our business.’

Using trucks with lift heights to 11 metres involves the removal of the mast for transportation and re-masting on site by Linde engineers. The engineers return to site and de-mast once the project is complete, ready for the truck to be returned.

Linde Forklift Truck Hire operates one of the largest fork lift truck rental fleets in the UK with over 10,000 trucks available to be hired ranging from one day to as long as required. Linde’s stock ranges from pallet trucks right up to counterbalance trucks with capacities of 52 tonnes, making them able to supply machines for every type of application.

Linde Forklift Truck Hire lifts to new heights

ISD Solutions is the UK’s leading contractor specialising in the development, construction and maintenance of cold stores, firewalls, data centres, clean rooms, single-envelope, external industrial cladding and doors. By working closely with clients from the earliest design stages through to final installation, ISD are able to provide the most cost-effective and innovative solutions, designed, manufactured and installed to the highest standards in the industry.

One project ISD are currently working on is Nestle’s £200 million extension to its NESCAFÉ factory in Tutbury, Derbyshire. For the first time in the UK all forms of coffee production including freeze dried, spray dried and pod technology, will be brought together on one site. Part of this project requires the installation of freezer panels by fork lift truck, a straightforward operation, but made more complicated by the fact that the panels are located at the top of a 6 storey building.

Martin Wright, Contract Manager for ISD Solutions commented ‘This application was one not to be taken on by the faint-hearted. Due to the complex nature of the application, working at height, floor loadings and the installation by crane, McLeman Forklift Services Ltd, a division of Linde Forklift Truck Hire were the only manufacturer prepared to come up with a solution.’

The gas powered counterbalance truck with a capacity of 1.8 tonnes had to be lifted by crane up to the 6th floor to enable it to carry out its duties on the top floor of the building. The truck will remain there for 3 months until the installation is complete and the truck removed by crane. Fitted with a specialised ‘Oktopus’ attachment, the truck is able to transport the freezer panels carefully and enable them to be moved accurately into position.

Linde Forklift Truck Hire assist with a speedy delivery

Bloodhound SSC is an extraordinary project, representing an extreme sporting challenge. A project designed to set a new World Land Speed Record at 1000mph, Bloodhound will be helping to push the boundaries of science and technology.

Developed over the last three years, the Bloodhound car is powered by a Eurofighter Typhoon jet engine and a hybrid rocket which will be capable of accelerating from rest to 1000 mph and back to rest again in 120 seconds, covering 12 miles during that time.

To promote the project, Bloodhound is giving sponsors the opportunity to hire the full size show car. As you can image, the 13.5 metre long, 3 metre tall supersonic show car creates an extraordinary impact at events. The car is transported in a 14 metre curtain-sided articulated truck which requires a fork lift truck to unload the car from the side.

The first project handled by Linde Forklift Truck Hire took place outside the Scottish Parliament. The Linde engine counterbalance truck, H 50, of five tonnes capacity was used to carefully unload and manoeuvre the car into position by a Linde fork truck operator.

Tony Parraman from Bloodhound commented “It’s fantastic to have a company like Linde support our project and provide us with a much needed resource. Being able to rely on Linde to always be there to unload the car wherever we may be, takes a huge strain off the team. Not only have they undertaken to unload the show car at all of our events, they are supplying a fork lift for the Bloodhound Technical Centre where the car is being assembled. We also have access to one of their powered pallet trucks, which we will use to move parts of the car around the workshop. They are a great company to work with"

Linde Forklift Truck Hire have recently added 200 trucks to their already 10,000 strong rental fleet to cope with increasing customer demand in the heavy truck market.

Lorraine Gray, Rental Controller from Linde Material Handling commented “With our extensive range of hire trucks, finding a suitable truck was simple. This, combined with the help of our skilled drivers, ensured that the show car was in safe hands.”

Linde also has a first class customer service operation ensuring that our rental hire trucks are always delivered quickly and there’s always a Linde representative on hand for extra advice and support.”
Gareth Davies, health and safety manager, Inscapes

Linde Material Handling supplies Inscapes with a range of diesel engine counterbalance trucks to provide the strength and manoeuvrability needed to cope with heavy loads in an outdoor, high pressured environment.

Based in Bridgend in south Wales, Inscapes is a landscaping business which lifts and resurfaces various landscapes. The company has worked on many projects across the UK including projects at the Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, various football clubs and recently at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Gareth Davies, from Inscapes explains: “We have recently completed a large pitch extraction project at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and with the help of our Linde trucks, we completed the project 24 hours before the given deadline. We work on a project by project basis and so the Linde fork truck hire option has worked extremely well for us over the past few years.

As the Inscapes health and safety manager, it’s crucial that I ensure our workforce is safe during each project and with Linde being known for its high safety standards, it seemed like the perfect fit for our requirements."

Rhian Stephens, senior rental controller at Linde Severnside, explains: “We first started working with Inscapes in 2005 when the company required durable trucks which were suitable for indoor and outdoor use. They needed the trucks on a short term basis due to the nature of their project work. Most of Inscapes’ projects involve the lifting and maneuvering of loads from 1.5 to 3 tonnes and so the H16 and H30D diesel engine counterbalance trucks provided the ideal solution for the company.

The trucks supplied are multi-purpose and feature the unique Linde hydrostatic control for unparalleled performance and reliability, together with fuel-efficient and low emission engines. The advanced design features of Linde trucks also maximise operator performance, safety and comfort which in turn make shifts more productive, saving cost, time and energy for the company.”

Linde Material Handling has been developing its fork lift truck rental service over the last 20 years. It operates the largest fork lift truck rental fleet in the UK with over 10,000 units available for hire periods of one day upwards, to meet seasonal peak periods or unscheduled requirements. Linde’s Forklift Truck Hire service provides a unique materials handling solution for UK’s first permanent bar made from ice – ICEBAR London

“Our parent company in Sweden has a long standing relationship with Linde because of its reputation for product performance and customer service. So when it came to our requirements for a truck that could be supplied on short term loan to work in a low ceiling bar environment at sub zero temperatures, the hire of a Linde pallet stacker on was an obvious choice.”
Matt Bourgogne, General Manager, ICEBAR London

Linde’s Fork Truck Hire service provides ICEBAR with a pallet stacker on hire every six months for between three and seven days, to assist with the bar’s seasonal ice refresh and annual bar breakdown and re-build. The stacker makes light work of moving and lifting pallets and large blocks of ice.

ICEBAR is a franchise of the Ice Hotel chain in Sweden. Based in Mayfair, London, the ICEBAR is the UK’s first permanent bar made of ice, sourced directly from the river Torne in northern Sweden. Permanently operating at minus five degrees centigrade, the bar attracts just under 200,000 visitors each year.

Diane Wild, Rental Controller at Linde South East explains:
“We first started working with the ICEBAR London in 2008. The bar is constructed of pure ice blocks, which need to be replaced every six months. Additionally, once a year, an expert design team from Sweden flys into London to supervise the ICEBAR’s breakdown, re-design and rebuild. This procedure normally takes between three and seven days and requires a specialist material handling solution.”

Linde’s L 10 pallet stacker of one tonne capacity offers the benefit of a triplex mast, a key factor for working in confined spaces with low level ceilings. Because the truck mast elevates in three stages, this delivers a maximum lift height before the truck itself gets taller – perfect for the ICEBAR’s low ceilings. Being electric powered, the pallet stacker produces zero emissions, another key consideration for working within a food and drink environment. The compact size of the truck also makes it perfectly suited for manoeuvring in and out of tight spaces.

Linde’s Forktruck Hire ensures access to the very latest equipment without the cost of ownership for maximum flexibility and value. While provision of a single point of contact, by way of a dedicated Linde account manager, ensures continuity of service for the company’s individual material handling needs.

Linde Material Handling has been developing its Forklift Truck Hire service over the last 20 years. It operates the largest hire fleet in the UK with over 10,000 units available for periods of one week upwards, to meet seasonal peak periods or unscheduled requirements.
