Senior Electrical/Electronic Engineer (Support Role)

Primary functions:
Design and test of electrical systems & sub systems of the range of electrically powered fork trucks and tow tractors produced at the Linde Basingstoke facility, including aftermarket support.

Specification, circuit design & associated schematic, necessary theory and calculations. Harness design, prototype build, project documentation, test procedures, compliance with relevant standards including EMC.
Investigation and resolution of warranty and field issues, system modification, prototyping and testing of solutions.
Bill of material generation, cost control.

Responsibility:

Working for the Electrical Engineering Manager, main responsibilities are:
Ensuring the truck electrical systems meet the specification, time and cost objectives. Also the designs are thoroughly tested before release in order to meet the relevant reliability criteria.
Resolving any field issues working with the mechanical support engineer.

Essential Skills:

Development of electrical circuits.
Development of customer specific embedded software for microcontrollers in C.
Development of electrical schematics in a 3D CAD environment.
Structured approach to failure/fault investigation.

Additional Requirements:

Working with and controlling suppliers.
Ability to work on and control more than one project at a time.
The role will involve travel within the UK and abroad.

Experience:

Minimum 2 years experience in electrical/electronic system design, preferably related to warehouse truck or vehicle electronic control systems.
Use of 3D CAD tools preferably Unigraphics an advantage.

Degree in electrical / electronic engineering.
Good knowledge of electrical / electronic theory.
Good knowledge of dc/ac motor control systems.
Good problem solving, prioritising, organisational skills.
Good design skills
Self motivated, able to manage their own time and that of sub-contractors.
Driven by resolving electrical system issues to meet specification and customer demands.
Strength of character to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
Good team worker.
Good interpersonal and communication skills to present projects, visit customer sites etc.
